DJ V's journey into the realms of Jungle / Drum & Bass began at the age of 14 when a school friend handed him a tape with just two tunes, they were Leviticus (The Buriel) and ShyFx (Original Nutter). From there he started listening to pirate stations and hunting out mix tapes.
Fast forward three years, and now living in London, he hit the record shops and began learning the art of mixing through an old friend (DJ Quest) who had a pair of technics and plenty of records. After eight months he was holding together a 2 hour set.
Then by chance he got his first warm-up set, at a night called LOCO on Charring Cross Road. At the time while working in Pizza Hut listening to his mix tape's, the brother of Mc Moose entered the shop and heard the music. He asked "who's tape's this?", the manager got V, after a brief conversion DJ V got down to work and put mix tape together , and so got his set, and was christened DJ V....
Around the age 21 he started learning how to produce music seriously after doing a sound engineering course, which propelled his skills and gave him the drive to learn more. He started out the oldskool way with an Atari and Cubase with some shit sampler that could only play 2 sounds together at the same time, it was awful. But it did give him massive idea's about editing, arranging and MIDI. NEXT >
